Devoted to Toe-Tappin', Heart-Touchin' Bluegrass & Gospel Music

2008 Top 10 SPBGMA Band Competition Finalists

Gospel Music ... Bluegrass Style!

"Toe-tappin', heart touchin' good news music - bluegrass style. Professional, articulate, diverse. Savvy vocals, tight family harmonies, amazing solos - you'd never know the oldest child is 16." CDBaby Editors Pick, Review

"All the band members are expert harmony and solo singers who can swap their assigned parts with ease. The hallmarks of classic bluegrass are evident in their long-stretched vowels, gracefully bent lines, rhythmic phrasing and tightly-scripted harmonies all executed in a dynamic stage choreography around a single microphone while also displaying astounding virtuosity on a variety of stringed instruments. Any audience would marvel at such vocal and instrumental prowess in a gathering of seasoned pros, let alone in a crew of children ranging from only ten to sixteen years old."
John Rossbach, John Rossbach

… their stage presence and performance is amazing, given the relative ages of the members. Their instrumentation is solid and their harmonies are family-tight. Their personalities shine through and assure audiences that the future of the American family is in good hands!”
Bill McBee, Pine Mountain Railroad

Welcome to a little picture of The Lindsey Family!  We are a family band employing Papa, Mama, various arrangements of ten children (ranging in age from 2-18), and even Grandpa Ray when he can get off work!

Traveling and playing bluegrass music throughout the United States, we sing and play primarily gospel-oriented music, though jazz, classical, swing, blues, and country are part of the mix. Our primary criterion is that our music must be morally pure and uplifting to the hearers.  Have a listen to some samples - they're around this website somewhere... try "The Music" page if you can't find them over on the left nav bar

Our latest CD, a collection of Hymns done bluegrass style, affectionately titled Day By Day, was recorded in April and will be released in June.  There are also three previous releases including Shine (2008), The First Years (2006), and Small Beginnings (2005).  They're all detailed on the CDs & Merchandise page.

Our mission seems to be encouraging folks that music is accessible and any age is never too young to start trying.  We've helped dads with 2 year olds start with a ukulele, and we've helped 82-year-olds start playing guitar.  We use two main vehicles for sending the message:  Concerts and "Bluegrass In The Schools" events.  At concerts we share with mostly adults how it can be done, and at schools we get to teach and demonstrate it to children.  It's possible you might think music isn't for you, but we'll help you get over that.  You CAN do it, and we're ready to get you over the hump.  You'd be surprised just how close you are.

If you're interested in having The Lindsey Family be a part of your festival, fair, convention, executive meeting, homecoming event, school assembly, etc., please drop a line in the contacts page, or give us a call.  We always enjoy singing at church gatherings and special events too!

Thanks for taking a moment to get to know us and have fun browsing around the website! We’d be happy to meet you too! So be in touch if we can be an encouragement to you or if you would like us to play at your event.
